Personal Values

I believe that good furniture creates good positive behavior, and this involves more than a relationship held at a distance. It’s not just pictures we can see online, or what we read about, or what we are told. Furniture is a direct interface with the world. And how we choose to furnish our lives is an empowering, beautiful way that every person gets to paint their own values on the environment

Bio

I am a woodworking and woodturning teaching artist. I hold a MFA in furniture design from RISD, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Cooper Union. I am currently living and working in Corvallis and Albany, Oregon as an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Wood Science and Engineering Department at Oregon State University’s College of Forestry.

I was born and grew up in New York, moved to Philadelphia when I started to make a living in wood, and then eventually learned to teach there. My partner Brian and I are in the process of moving our lives to the PNW where we will grow grapes, pet chickens, and praise sunlight.
