Saturday, November 15, 1pm-3pm
In Person @ The Friends Center
Using the medium of collage, visual artist, poet, scholar and educator, Dr. DestinyCrockett, will demonstrate how she integrates Black biographic art history into hands-on classroom lessons. You will experiment with collage techniques while learning about Mavis Pusey, a Black woman abstract artist of the 1970’s. Taking inspiration from Pusey’s work, you’ll practice developing your own color palettes and creating geometric shapes and fine lines using solid-colored papers of all textures — no photos or magazine clippings will be used! By the end of the session, each person will have completed their own 11×14 inch collage made of all paper. Teaching artists with all levels of visual art experience are welcome.
