Teaching Artist Micro Grants

2023 Winter

Nadine Lafond

Nadine is a visual and mixed media artist, as well as a songwriter and musician. Nadine's grant will be used to purchase equipment and digital subscriptions for virtual teaching.

Ceshia Elmore

Ceshia (she/her) is a storyteller and textile artist. Ceisha's grant will support EARfirmations jewelry and self-care workshops.

Annielille Gavino

Ani (she/they) is a Filipino dancer and storyteller. Ani's grant will support a monthly Community Dance Party/Workshop series.

Nicole Dupree

Nicole (she/her) is a textile and fiber artist who uses found, natural and recycled materials. Nicole's grant will support nature and artmaking workshops for families at RittenhouseTown.

Caitlin Abadir-Mullally

Caitlin (she/they) is social practice visual artist. Caitlin's grant will support a workshop focused on telling personal narratives through equitable archive practices.

Kwan Howard

Kwan's (he/him) work focuses on art and design, and DIY art practices. This grant will enable high school students in his DIY Design program to take their design projects to Pop-Up Markets.

Juan Carlos Marin Marin

Juan Carlos Marin Marin (he/him) is a Mexican Folk and Latin Fusion musician. His grant will support a Guachinangos Youth Music Academy.

Mama Carla Wiley

Mama Carla Wiley (she/her) is a storyteller and quilter. Mama Carla will use her grant for a Community Quilting Project.

Raylá White-Spraggins

Raylá White-Spraggins (they/she) is movement teaching artist. Raylá will use their grant for professional development and certification in equitable somatic practices in movement.

Lu Donovan

Lu (they/them) is a dancer and movement artist. Lu's grant will support movement workshops for trans people on hormone replacement therapy.

Warrior Writers

Warrior Writers is the 2022 Winner of the George Bartol Arts Education Award.

The Award of $5,000 is given to an organization that provides sustained, meaningful participation in the arts; that demonstrates an active engagement in the lives of its students and community; and that maintains high artistic standards for its faculty and students.

Warrior Writers creates a culture that articulates veterans’ experiences, build a collaborative community for artistic expression, and bear witness to war and the full range of military experiences.
